Neang Boratino, Koh Kong provincial coordinator for the rights group Adhoc, said a verdict in the case against Ran Boroth, a former employee of the logging firm Timbergreen accused of killing military police officer In Rattana while trying to disarm him, was now scheduled for October 22.
“Court prosecutor Srey Makny told me that the verdict announcement was delayed as the judge is sick and at the court the suspect did not appear,” he said.
Rattana was accused of killing Chut Wutty on April 26 at Veal Bei point in Mondul Seima district’s Bak Klang commune, but charges against him were dropped on the grounds that he was already dead.
Wutty was investigating Timbergreen’s activities at the time.
